Off-road mountain biking through the Allgäu

 

If you’re a mountain biker, the sight of the Allgäu Pre-Alps surrounding the Hotel Krone is sure to make your calves tingle. By mountain bike, you can explore the surrounding hills – whether it’s the Bergstätt area, the magnificent panoramic trails around the Grünten, the Gunzesrieder Valley or the area around the Mittag. If you’re in really good shape, you might even tackle the Nagelfluh crossing all the way to Balderschwang, Germany’s highest municipality.

The thrill of road cycling

 

Hop on your road bike and off you go: to Lindau and back again. To the Kleinwalsertal and back – or via Kempten to Wertach and Oberjoch, then via Sonthofen back to the starting point. If you’d like to explore the Allgäu on a road bike: breakfast is served from 7.00 am – you’ll have the whole day to extend your range on the bike! By the way, we’re very close to the cycling route of the Allgäu Triathlon.

Enjoy an e-bike with assistance

 

The gentle rolling hills around Stein and Immenstadt, as well as the magnificent cycle path along the River Iller, are perfect for long e-bike rides through the region. From our house, you can set off directly up to the Allgäu Mountain Farming Museum in Diepolz, on the panoramic route to Missen and the Alpsee, or along the Iller embankment as far as Oberstdorf – Germany’s southernmost municipality – or to the ‘Allgäu metropolis’ of Kempten.

The Lake Constance–Königssee Cycle Route, the Iller Cycle Route and the Allgäu Cycle Loop all have one thing in common: they run (almost) right past our hotel door! We’re also happy to accommodate you for just one night and are the ideal stopover for your long-distance cycle tour – with a laundry service for your cycling kit and bike, a well-equipped cycle workshop for minor repairs and, of course, a warm send-off for your thighs every day as you set off on your tour.

Leisure cycling & enjoying nature

 

If you simply enjoy a leisurely cycle, you’ve come to the right place and you’re very welcome here. Cycle a few kilometres over to the ‘Städtle’ and enjoy an ice cream sundae on Immenstadt’s ‘Piazza’, Marienplatz. Or cycle all the way to Sonthofen along the Iller embankment – with no hills at all – and enjoy a spot of shopping or a game of mini-golf there. The route continues along the embankment via Fischen into the beautiful valleys of Oberstdorf.

We stayed at the Hotel Restaurant Krone as a group of six for three days. Our weekend was planned as a road cycling break in the Allgäu. Arrival: The hotel is conveniently situated just a stone’s throw outside Immenstadt. There is plenty of parking available right by the hotel. We received an extremely friendly, professional and warm welcome at the modern reception area. As we arrived early, the rooms weren’t ready yet, of course, but we were able to leave our luggage at the hotel. Cycling: Our weekend was planned as a road cycling trip in the Allgäu. We had a total of six road bikes with us. We were able to store these in the bike garage right next to the hotel entrance. The facilities in this first-class bike garage are an absolute highlight for any cyclist. Not only does it consist of an open area and a lockable section, but it really does contain EVERYTHING a road cyclist or mountain biker could need. We’ve personally stayed at a great many hotels whilst cycling, but these facilities outshine everything else – well done, Krone team!!
