Immenstadt is the gateway to the Allgäu Alps – those keen on hiking can choose between leisurely panoramic walks and truly rewarding summit experiences. Scenic mountain hikes set off close to the Krone, such as those to the Mittag or Steineberg, or into the Allgäu High Alps. Sometimes the route takes you across flowering mountain meadows, at other times along narrow paths with an alpine feel. Those looking to go higher will find impressive panoramic views stretching as far as Switzerland and Tyrol along the ridges of the Nagelfluh range and in the Hindelang and Oberstdorf mountains. Whether it’s a short after-work walk or a full-day mountain hike: the area around Immenstadt is perfect for anyone who loves the mountains.

Mountain railways in the Allgäu
The mountain railways in the Allgäu are your convenient gateway to the Alps. Right in Immenstadt, the Mittagbahn takes you up to the local mountain, offering magnificent panoramic views. Just a few minutes away, other mountain railways in the Oberallgäu beckon: the Hörnerbahn in Bolsterlang, the Nebelhornbahn in Oberstdorf, or the Fellhornbahn with its breathtaking Alpine panorama. This way, you can explore nature, mountain peaks and huts at your own leisure – and then return to us at the KRONE, full of wonderful memories.

Frequently asked questions about cycling and walking holidays
Krone
As well as our free mountain bikes and city bikes, we also hire out e-bikes. These can be hired – subject to availability – for EUR 39.00 per day. Unfortunately, it is not possible to reserve the hotel’s own e-bikes.
If our e-bikes are already booked out or you’d like a specific model, we work in partnership with our cycling partner, Radsport Schaich in Sonthofen. We’d be happy to put you in touch with them. There, you can book an e-bike tailored to your needs, which will then be conveniently delivered directly to the hotel.
At the Krone, you can hire mountain bikes and city bikes free of charge. For e-bikes, we work with an external bike hire company, which will be happy to deliver the e-bikes directly to the hotel upon prior booking (ideally before you arrive!).
In our walking and cycling brochure at reception, you’ll find the most beautiful routes around the KRONE and the wider area. We’d be happy to print out these suggestions for you.
Under the headings ‘Cycling Holidays’, ‘Hiking Holidays’ and ‘Allgäu Holidays’, you’ll find plenty of appealing routes. Here, you can select the criteria that matter most to you and choose the starting point for your route. Our reception team will also be happy to give you personalised advice.
The Allgäu Walser Pass is your personal digital guest card. You will receive this at check-in if you are staying for at least 2 nights. With the digital pass, you can conveniently enjoy numerous discounts on admission fees and leisure activities in the region – simply by scanning the QR code. As a guest of the KRONE, you can use buses and trains free of charge with the Allgäu Walser Pass – throughout the Oberallgäu region and even beyond. Free travel with the Mobil Pass Allgäu is valid on regular buses and local trains in the Oberallgäu district and the city of Kempten, as well as in the neighbouring ‘bodo’ transport area on Lake Constance as far as Friedrichshafen, and also on buses in the Tannheimer Valley and on selected routes in the Bregenzer Wald.
The KRONE is situated in the heart of the Allgäu. From here, you can reach most of the Oberallgäu’s mountain railways, ski resorts and cross-country ski trails in just a few minutes’ drive (10 to 30 minutes).
Right on your doorstep, you’ll find the Allgäu cycle network, with over 450 km of well-signposted routes. From leisurely e-bike and trekking rides to challenging road cycling routes and mountain bike trails, there’s something for everyone – often with an Allgäu alp as the destination.
As a cycle hotel, we offer secure bike parking and a lockable bike storage room with washing and repair facilities, a small workshop, an e-bike charging station and personalised tour recommendations.

The next mountain railway is the Mittagbahn, which takes you straight up to the local mountain in Immenstadt. The Hörnerbahn in Bolsterlang, the Nebelhornbahn in Oberstdorf and the Fellhornbahn are also just a few minutes’ journey away.
We do not currently offer guided walks or cycle tours. However, we do have a comprehensive tour guide containing numerous recommendations for walks, cycle tours and places to visit in the region. Our reception team will also be happy to advise you personally and give you tailored tips – tailored to your interests, your fitness level and the current weather conditions.
There are five lockable charging points for e-bikes right next to the hotel. Use of the e-bike charging station is free of charge for our guests, so you can charge your bike conveniently and securely during your stay.
