There are wonderful cleared winter hiking trails around Immenstadt and the Alpsee, guided snowshoe tours on our local mountain, the Mittag, carriage rides in snow-covered Alpine valleys, groomed natural toboggan runs at Mittag and the Alpsee Bergwelt and wonderful panoramic terraces for winter connoisseurs - what more could you want?
If you like hiking in winter, you will find marvellous destinations around Immenstadt and Stein. Many hiking trails, especially near the valley, are also cleared or groomed in winter, so that you can reach many a viewpoint with a marvellous view of the wintry Alpsee or the wonderfully snow-covered Illertal.

Mittag
Mittag is Immenstadt's local mountain. It used to be the closest ski area to the Krone, but Mittag is now almost exclusively for winter hikers and tobogganists. If you like, you can breathe in the fresh winter air on the groomed trails to Bärenköpfle or to the serviced Alpe Oberberg and enjoy a winter hike with great views. Mountain resort winter paradise
Bergstätte
The Bergstätte high plateau is just a few minutes' drive from the Krone. There is not only the Knottenried-Diepolz cross-country skiing paradise for winter sports enthusiasts, but also many wonderful winter hiking trails around the small villages. Our tip: Park your car at the Schlettermoos car park directly on the road to Missen - and hike through the snow to the Siedelalpe or Juget-Alpe, where a good snack awaits you at the weekend in winter!
Winter wonderland at the Alpsee
Alpsee
Just three kilometres from the Krone, you will find the Kleiner and Großer Alpsee lakes - and therefore a wonderful winter hiking area. There are cleared paths along both lakes - and in Bühl, a few cafés are worth a warming stop or a stay on the sun terrace. If you like, you can also pay an informative visit to the Nature Park Information Centre in the AlpseeHaus at the eastern end of the Großer Alpsee.
