We support sustainable reforestation

54 trainees from the Immenstadt Vocational Training Centre recently set off for the mountain forest above Blaichach together with Olympic champion and mountain forest ambassador Vinzenz Geiger and forestry experts from the AELF Kempten. The aim was to plant climate-stable silver firs and experience sustainable forestry first-hand. This initiative was made possible thanks to our special guest offer, ‘Plant trees instead of making beds

Some of our guests consciously choose not to have their rooms cleaned every day – thereby contributing to the protection of our local nature. The donations collected in this way go directly to reforestation projects. Under the guidance of district manager Andreas Fisel and his team, the aspiring carpenters learned how to plant trees correctly and the importance of sustainable forestry in times of climate change. In addition to gaining lots of practical experience, the young craftsmen also took home a new awareness of the origin of their most important material – wood.

‘Our Allgäu nature is unique and absolutely worth preserving,’ says our boss Sabine Schafroth. ‘With our campaign, we want to take responsibility together with our guests and actively contribute to the preservation of the mountain forest.’ And daughter Lisa Geiger adds: ‘It simply makes us happy to do something that preserves our nature.’

A real highlight of the planting day for the students was meeting Vinzenz Geiger, who accompanied the campaign not only as an Olympic champion in Nordic combined, but also as a mountain forest ambassador. The day ended with a snack together overlooking the autumnal Iller Valley.
